London Printers Offer Great Prices

By Elliott Wolchek James

London's fascination with printing has been ongoing from the first time a William Caxton's press was heard in the capital over five centuries ago. No doubt the amount of changes to the industry since those early days are phenomenal. I wonder what that great printer would have thought about the technology used by London printers today.

How ironic that the technology everyone was saying would be the death of printing has become largely responsible for breathing new life into it in so many ways. So many print companies did succumb but the future gets brighter for those who held on and did what they had to do to overcome the many obstacles.

There are many types of print companies in London that have been established for twenty years or more, from high street print shops specialising in fast turnaround print, copy and design and catering to local businesses and passing trade, to bigger establishments offering digital and litho print and everything in between. If they've managed to keep operating for the last two decades it's because they've embraced the new technology that has become available to them and they've got something of value to offer their customers. Experience like theirs can't be copied or fast-tracked.

At first it seemed that new technology was viewed as just something that, at best, would speed up the print process and may even improve the quality of the process in some instances. The array of new services and products that have come about were not even thought about back then. Things moved so fast it was difficult to adapt for many but those that held on during the initial transitions will likely be around to the end.

For years marketing specialists have sought out ways to personalize clients' messages to their target audiences without much success. It's little wonder that variable data and the various techniques available for personalizing sales letters, emails, brochures and just about anything online and in print is so popular and so effective.

Codes that look like a small box of black pixels can be placed onto traditional printed pieces so that, when scanned with a smartphone, will reveal text, URLs, images, audio or video clips. They can be printed onto direct mail, billboards, magazines and newspapers and pretty much anything else that can be printed onto. Imagine scanning an advert or a CD cover and receiving a printable coupon for a special offer or being linked to a file containing bonus tracks from your favorite band.

London Printers are also using the latest technology to link with their own customers and keep communications flowing. Apart from websites that allow their customers to place orders online and various ways of personalizing emails and other communications, some have in-house experts cultivating an online community via social media. Reaching customers instantly with ideas and advice on their print campaigns has proved a huge success.

A great number of London print companies are flourishing as they use the tools available to push the boundaries of traditional printing towards integrating with the best of the marketing technology around. The result is a reliable, cost effective service for the customer, backed by a wealth of knowledge and experience that adds real value to the experience of doing business with London printers.
